Nokia 808 PureView Ad shot with its own 41mp Camera!

on Friday, 20 April 2012 14:22. Posted in Devices

This new ad clearly defines the 41mp Nokia 808 PureView with an amazing digital photography technology. This ad was entirely filmed with just the 808 PureView see for yourself how it looks! The video highlights some of the phone’s capabilities – besides taking really good photos and capturing High Definition video, it enables you to easily share them with another Nokia device or over social networks such as Twitter.

Perhaps the most interesting feature of the camera is its pixel-perfect zooming capability. You can take photos up to three times as close, as well as shoot Full HD video clips at 30 fps and 4x zoom with no loss of detail. The downside though, maybe, is that the device runs on the dying Symbian OS.

HTC Edge may be the first quad-core smartphone coming soon

on Tuesday, 08 November 2011 06:47. Posted in Devices

Color us skeptical on this one, but rumors are coming down the pipeline about an HTC phone called the Edge. It's supposedly going to be the first Tegra 3-powered smartphone.

The 4.7-inch Edge will allegedly be slightly over ten millimeters thick, and appears to be very much the successor to the just-unveiled Rezound/Vigor, as it should feature the same 720p resolution, 1GB of RAM, and backlit eight-megapixel camera with 28-millimeter, f/2.2 lens. The major improvement, then, would be Edge's supposed AP30 Tegra 3 CPU from Nvidia, which offers four 1.5GHz cores to Rezound's two. Internal storage will likely be bumped to 32GB, while the Bluetooth radio should hit version 4.0. Naturally, Beats Audio enhancements would be part of the package.

Edge may also see the rollout of new or improved HTC content services, such as the previously tipped HTC Listen music store, HTC Read bookstore, and HTC Play gaming hub; the HTC Watch movie portal will reportedly begin to offer HD fare. Additionally, Edge could be one of the first Sense 4.0 devices.

Motorola Droid RAZR unveiled: LTE, 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display

on Saturday, 05 November 2011 15:32. Posted in Devices

When the original Motorola RAZR came out in 2004 it turned the mobile world upside down with its slim profile and impressive design. Motorola sold more than 50 million units of the device, which makes it the all time best-selling clamshell. However, Motorola didn't quite manage to continue riding the enormous wave of success which the RAZR set and inevitably lost momentum.

This newest addition to Verizon's Droid lineup boasts a Gorilla Glass coated, 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display -- a first for any mobile handset -- atop a dual-core 1.2GHz TI OMAP4430 processor. Although the RAZR may look like a Kevlar-wrapped, slightly warped Droid X with its 7.1mm skinny silhouette and familiar topside hump, the insides tell a different tale. Joining the list of well-heeled specs, are an 8 megapixel rear camera capable of 1080p HD video, 1GB RAM, 16GB of onboard storage with 16GB additional on the microSD card and an 1,800mAh battery. Moto's also included Lapdock 100 and 500 Pro compatibility, converting this latest red-eyed beastie into a power user's best friend.

Motorola RAZR at a glance:

General: GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900, UMTS 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100, HSDPA 14.4 Mbps, HSUPA 5.76 Mbps
Form factor: Touchscreen bar phone

HTC launches an improved Sensation

on Wednesday, 14 September 2011 13:21. Posted in Devices

HTC is launching its first phone in a line of smartphones to feature Beats audio technology, the HTC Sensation XE.

HTC claimed its Android based Sensation XE boosts performance and battery life further than its predecessor with the addition of a 1.5GHz dual core processor and an extended battery.

When used with Beats by Dr Dre in-ear headphones, the handset automatically switches to the bespoke Beats by Dr Dre sound profile, delivering audio tracks tuned specifically for the headphones.

The HTC Sensation XE ships with an 8GB or 16GB microSD card and the exclusive Beats by Dr Dre in-ear headphones feature a remote control, allowing you to pause, play or skip through tracks and answer or end calls while the phone is in your pocket.

htc-sensation-xeHTC said its Sensation XE will be available across EMEA and Asia Pacific from late September.

We have seen the phone tip up on several internet retailers, promised for release on 7 October. The device is on Amazon UK for a jaw droppingly expensive £614, Play.com for £599 and Clove for a more wallet friendly £492.

HTC confirmed that the device comes with in-ear Dr Dre headphones, and they can cost upwards of £100, so that could explain the phone's high price.

Last month, we reported that HTC will buy a 51 per cent stake in the overpriced headphone maker Beats Electronics for $300m, its fifth acquisition of the year.

The firm said handsets with integrated Beats Audio will "redefine the smart phone industry and define the future", which we think is a bold statement.

HTC HD2 gets Mango RTM & Easy Package Updates

on Monday, 29 August 2011 10:21. Posted in Devices

You likely know the HTC HD2 as the phone that just can't be held in the past. While it started life with Windows Mobile 6.5, it's since met better fortunes with Android, Meego, and most recently... NoDo. Now, after the leak of Windows Phone Mango RTM, things are about to heat up once again. First, we've come across a video that clearly shows the HD2 gobbling up version 7720 of this tropical fruit without missing a beat. Also, xda-developers members YukiXDA and xboxmod are preparing to release their own concept ROM based on this release. Both projects are currently held back by the OS's inability to properly recognize the phone's microSD card, but that seems to be the final step before a full scale release. If you're interested, check the video after the break and make sure to bookmark the source link. Life is about to get a whole lot more interesting for your HD2.

on Tuesday, 16 August 2011 12:08. Posted in Devices

Xiaomi will be introducing a new phone called the M1 in China, for now I’m just going to call this the MIUI Phone. For those that don’t know, MIUI is probably one of if not the biggest custom ROM currently available for Android Phones. With the main competition most likely CyanogenMod. This phone will launch, and come new with a custom MIUI Rom out of the box.

The M1 has impressive specs. It'll be packing the 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon SoC with 1GB of RAM. It'll have a spacious 1930mAh battery, an 8MP rear-facing camera, and a noise-cancelling microphone. The device will have a 4" FWVGA 854x480 display, and will ship with the latest MIUI ROM running on Android 2.3.5.

HTC Vigor set to offer highest spec yet

on Friday, 12 August 2011 10:17. Posted in Devices

According to sources, builds of the HTC Vigor are starting to pop up in the wild – we received potential specs for them, which we’re pretty sure you’ll be pleased with.  From the sounds of it, HD screens are going to be the “it” thing this holiday season – assuming of course that both of them make it to stores.

We’ll start with the Vigor since it seems to be the hottest rumored phone on the planet these days.  Accordingly, the device will indeed have a 4.3″ 720p HD screen (1280×720 resolution), with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, 8MP rear cam, 2MP front, Android 2.3.4 and a brand new version of Sense which he called “3.5.”  The device will be similar in size and shape to the Thunderbolt, but without the kickstand.

And if you were wondering, this will be a Beats by Dre device.  We’re hearing that it has a Beats logo as part of the bootup sequence, but other than that, it was tough to tell what else HTC had done to integrate their audio technology.

If the previously leaked release dates for Verizon are accurate, then we can expect these devices to hit in late October. New powerful Android offerings plus the iPhone 5 and the slew of Windows Phone Mango handsets in the coming months are sure to make for an exciting battle for the holiday market.

Motorola's Quad-Core Smartphones, Bullet and Jet

on Monday, 01 August 2011 15:15. Posted in Devices

Mobile phone maker Motorola Mobility is expected to be among the first companies in the world to come to the market with quad-core application processors inside, some of the latest rumors around the Internet suggest. According to the news, the new devices should arrive on shelves as Motorola Bullet and Jet, while being powered by NVIDIA’s new Tegra 3 (Kal-El) quad-core processor. The processor was already unveiled to the world, and the first devices to run under it might land on shelves sometime in the first quarter of the next year, which means that the two phones could be released at that time as well.

Before anything else, we should have a closer look at the two upcoming quad-core handsets, which emerged over at Droid-Life. The Motorola Bullet is reportedly headed to the market with a 4.3-inch qHD screen, along with around 1GB DDR2 of RAM (most probably, 1.5GB), and 16GB of on-board storage. Moreover, the upcoming mobile phone should also include NFC capabilities (Near Field Communication), as well as a 12-megapixel photo snapper. As for the Motorola Jet, rumor has it that it should pack a 4-inch qHD screen, along with 1 or 1.5GB of DDR2 RAM, 16GB on-board storage, and the same 12MP camera.
